The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
By Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

290 pages
8 hours and 11 minutes listening time

Grade A+

I loved loved LOVED this book! I had so much fun reading it! I tried to start listening to it, but since it is a book done as a collection of letters, it was really hard to follow along on audio, so I actually read this book! It really helped me get lost over this past weekend and put my mind in an entirely different place which was nice because I really didn't want to be in my own world.

The author writes in a way that you can totally fall in love with the characters. I felt that I had become friends with them all when I finished the book.

Basically, the book takes place in the time shortly after WWII. A man who lives in Guernsey, found a book that had Juliet's address in it. Juliet is an author in London. She starts writing back and forth with the man, Dawsey, and they become friends. Shortly after, other residents of Guernsey start to write to Juliet. Juliet starts to think she needs to write a new book about the Occupation on Guernsey. She plans a trip to Guernsey, and finds so much more than just information on the Occupation.

She becomes friends immediately with the residents and the members of the Society. And they all take to Juliet so fast as well. It makes you wish you were on the island with all of them.

I was so happy at the end of the book and so happy with the way it ended, but I was still so sad that it did end.

Anyway, read it. That is all I have to say :)
